Using Companion Specifications for type-based client applications

How can Companion Specifications facilitate the integration of machines into existing systems and what role do type-based systems play?

Dr. Thomas Dasbach (VDMA e.V.) and Sebastian Friedl (interop4X, FVA GmbH) explain the use of Companion Specifications and the umati Dashboard at OPC Day International on 20 June, 2024.

Together, they will demonstrate how Companion Specifications can be used to create templates that are based on types instead of NodeIDs. These only need to be created once for each specification, which makes it much easier to connect machines and eliminates the need for additional configurations.

Topics include:

  • Benefits of OPC UA Companion Specifications

  • How umati brings machine manufacturers and users together

  • Showcase - Machine onboarding with OPC UA Companion Specifications

See how incredibly simple it can be to connect machines to the umati dashboard. You can watch the full presentation here: Watch the video.
